With TSA? I am traveling in the near future and want to bring my pens, but I don't know how much security will like a briefcase full of pens. All comments appreciated.

I've carried two or three cases of pens in my carry on bag several times. They have been inspected only once when I failed to remove a couple of rifile shell pens to my checked luggage. Other than the inspections there have been no problems. But, as with TSA, it depends on who is working.
Do a good turn daily!

In 2007 on a trip to Provo Utah to attend the Utah Symposium I packed a case of pens. Prior to the trip I photograph the pens and had the local customs office acknowledge in writing that I was taking the pens across the border and would be returning with them. Going through Customs in Toronto the two customs agents asked me to open my luggage so they could look at the pens. Basically there was no issue with the pens. They just wanted to see some beautiful pens. However, as we get in more exotic materials in our craft be careful what you take...cartridge pens, mammonth ivory, exotic feathers and reptile skins. I have never had a problem with a pen in my carry on bag. But I have never taken a bullet pen with me either.

Thanks everyone, I was thinking it would not be a problem, and was also going to take out the bullet cartridge pens. It sounds like bullet cartridge pens aren't much of a problem though. I only have one case, so it should be okay.

I worked for an airlines too many years and saw too much to get involved in this discussion.

I can't say what I think of TSA... it would go into the political arena, violate the C of C, TOS and probably get be banned....
