Just went outside a few minutes ago and saw/heard something strange.

There's a big gray, puffy thing in the air over the house and it's making weird rumbling noises.

Anybody got an idea what it may be???

We just a severe Thunderstorm warning in Round Rock, maybe the storms will last longer to sprinkle my dead grass formerly known as my lawn.

I used to live under the flight path of the Goodyear blimp as it came into Teterboro airport in New Jersey. It used to pass about 150 feet above the house, and always came in at night -- nothing sounds quite like it.

Man, all we got off the end of the runway at Dobbins was F-16's and C-130's. I want my money back.

Update

Shortly after I posted this inquiry I went back outside and observed a rather lengthy series of bright flashes and even more rumbling noises. This must have gone on for 20 or 30 minutes.

Then the strangest thing happened. Someone started spraying dihydrogen monoxide all over the neighborhood. In very large quantities!

The spraying and flashes continued for almost an hour. Very interesting and unusual phenomenon to observe.

I have a plastic measuring device from a previous existence mounted on my fence. When all was finally calm again, it indicated that just over 1/2" of dihydrogen monoxide had been sprayed on my property. Is this a good thing?

Maybe I'll do some Googling to see if I can find more information. Will keep updating as necessary.

I don't know for sure but I do wish that perhaps more of that should have been sprayed there and somewhat less sprayed here. As we are learning here in the east, too much of that stuff is actually about as bad as too little....Where my daughter lives the Susquehanna River crested about 4 or 5 feet higher than ever before in history....

Never got a drop in Round Rock, spectacular light show to the north last night.

Did not make it as far north as Waxahachie either, we did not even get the light show. 3/4" since June. Had to switch to feed for the cattle can not even buy hay, and the pastures are long gone.

Me too .. can't mistake that sound. I lived on the top of the Palisades, so
I was right between Teterboro and Manhattan, right in the flight path. You
don't even have to look .. sounds like a cross between a plane and a lawn
mower, except the sound seems to stay in one place. Even before you
look up, you know what it is.
