I read a post below that is very similar to this question but not exactly the same.

Anyways my friend turned a pen out of purple heart and then finished it with 4 or 5 coats of Medium CA glue. It looked pretty danged good for a first time turning a pen and a first time using the CA glue. anyways about 3 weeks later he shows me the pen and the CA glue has cracked in an area.

Its hard to explain but in a couple of areas there are small cracks in the glue he hasnt dropped it or anything of that sort. There just seems to be these little cracs that some you can only see but others you can kind of feel

My best 3 guesses are:

1. The oils from the wood are seeping out and ruining the finish.
2. He wet sanded the wood and didnt let it dry. he then left it in his cold car then took it into his warm house and the wet wood combined with the rapid change of temps made the wood contract and expand.
3. He just made a small mistake while applying the glue.

I will try to get a picture of it but im just trying to figure out what he did so i dont do the same thing.

Crazing in lacquer is caused by it coming from a cold place into a warm one! Suddenly.

I know this problem from guitars.... shipped in cold weather, too eager to open the box and have a look.... result.... crazed lacquer. Those in the know will let the box, case and guitar sit for at least 12 hours before opening.
