What finish would you use if you are inlay metal

If you inlay thin strips of metal (copper or brass) into your pen blank What finish would you use? Will any of the shellacs finishes react to the metals? or CA's? I would hate to see a copper inlay become 1/2 patina. Any comments please Thank you! Bill Daniels

I use CA finish with brass, aluminum and copper..no problem

I use CA over metal inlays.

I use CA also. I think lacquer will do fine also.
