I just recently started using Noodlers bay state blue (thanks Juteck)
Bottom line I love the old fashioned style of this bright blue ink. It pops I love writing with it. I bought a large bottle of the stuff at the LA pen show. 21 bucks and it comes with 2 pens.

I just recently read some reviews discussing this pens tendency to discolor plastics and anything else it comes in contact with. For now I am dedicating this color to one pen.

So now I carry 2 pens. Trusty black private reserve in one and Noodler bay state blue in the other.

So my question is what brand and colors do you use?

I like the color choices that Private Reserve offers, but I also have some Sailor that I like a lot, blue/black is the color I believe...

Oh, and in the private reserve, I have a burnt orange, a very deep purple (almost black) and I light blue one... I'll have to look at the actual color names...

To me ink is just as fascinating as pen making. I've just dipped my toe into this vast multi colored ocean and fond that Bay state blue doesn't come off. LOL

One ebay search for FP ink and you'll be staring at all the various types for hours! Right now I have PR Velvet black in my daily use FP. I'm looking to expand my ink collection just as much as my FP collection.

I like Noodler's (I love Bay State Blue, and don't care if it stains the inside of the convertor hidden inside the pen body!) and Private Reserve, but have a variety of others now too, thanks to the sample shop at Goulet Pens - another great website to visit for their swab shop showing the different colors. They have lots of ink reviews on their Ink Nouveau blog page, but I think the ink reviews at Fountain Pen Network give you several other perspectives.

Glad you found another money sinkhole........sorry I started you down that path......

Yeah Brian is a member here have not seen him in a while. I joined ink drop which gives me 5 or so samples of different inks every month. Since getting your package I have purchased Baystate blue and Apache Sunset. Already had a bottle of Velvet black from private reserve.

This craft has so many sub-obsessions

I like some of the older ink colors the best.

Lucky.... I've bought lots of bottles of differant older ink in the last 15 years at store close-outs etc., so I have more reserve than I can ever use. If any one want's to buy some of this old ink, let me know and I'll make up a list of what I have. PM me if interested?

I remember years ago when friends asked what brand of beer I liked - my answer was "Whatever pours". I guess I feel similar about ink "Whatever writes" I do lean towar eithe black or blue though.

I started using J. Herbin Perle Noire (black) and J.Herbin Lierre Sauvage (Green) like them both and also DC Show Green from Private Reserve.
