I had corrective hand surgery in August to repair a worn out thumb joint in my left hand. It all went super and I have full range of motion and strength back.

The big bonus was the trauma to my wrist .. chuckle. I get a free dose of carpal tunnel syndrome.

I went for a follow-up visit a few weeks back and mentioned the numbness in my hand and all the fingers when I do any kind of work ( like turning 29 shaving brush handles for example ).

They had thought I might have a precursor to carpal tunnel a couple of months after the operation. This sealed the deal. The kicker is that I have numbness in all the fingers so I went for a nerve conductive series this morning.

The big bonus is likely to be a compressed ulnar nerve in my elbow giving me the added treat of having cubital tunnel syndrome:laugh:

I meet with the surgeon next Thursday to discuss the options. Surgery of some kind is a definite though.

I better get busy and pound out some work before than. What harm could it do?

My left hand goes numb when I drive... usually within the first 20 miles.... I suspect a pinched nerve somewhere... I drive mostly with my left hand at the 11 o'clock position...if I drop my hand down to the 7-8 o'clock position on the steering wheel, the numbness lessens and goes away...

When I suspected I had carpal tunnel, the Dr also did an EEG(?) to see if I had nerve impengment from my neck as well. Well, after neck fusion for a bad disc, I had both wrists done. Much more strength in my hands but haven't been able to snap my fingers for 13 yrs. A little give/take there I guess. Now if I could just compromise with Mrs. Arther I'd be happy.
