Today about 4:45pm my wife headed out to pick the girls up and take them to swim lessons. All I hear is free shop time. Well about 5:20 she calls to advise me that my youngest hurt her arm. I assume she is going to bring her home and take the other to swim. Well she continues to say she thinks it may be broken. Well 3 hours in the ER and she has a fractured elbow. It broke my heart to have to stretch out her arm for xrays. The Dr's put it in a sling and we have to go see an Orthopedic Surgeon in the morning.

I tell you this one is so active she is always getting hurt. It has only been a few months since she fell into a table and opened a big gash over her eyebrow that the CA'ed shut.

Chris, sorry to hear that. I hope she gets better. Having a son, in his younger days, I can't recall the number of times rushing him to the ER. Rusty nails in the foot, rusty fish hooks, etc. But, it all works out.

Chris: I was that kid! Spent so much time in the ER they sent me X mass cards for years! Luckily kids bounce back very quickly and over time we get more careful.......why its been 11 years since I broke a bone and months since I had to have stiches.

I can fully understand how holding her for x-rays must have effected you. It is a loving and compassionate Dad that feels these things. Funny in years to come she will have forgotten it and it will still be a strong memory to you. So my heart goes out to you, you already have your heart wrapped around a little girls finger.

Sorry to hear ....

Chris,

Sorry to hear about your daughter .. we had twin boys .. identical .. things always happened to both of them .. only hours apart .. it always hurt my wife and me ..

Kids heal .. parents remember ..

Don

I cannot do any work that I don't end up bleeding from doing it. I hope that she heals quickly. OH Rick P you knocked on wood I hope when you typed your comment about time since your last injury. LOL

Yep..........I been spending most of my time chasing bears with two sticks and a string! I have no desire to change my lucky streak!

Kids Heal But

We still go through the agony. Having raised 6 kids we went through cuts, bruises, broken bones....fortunately the Lord made children so they usually heal pretty well. I hope your daughter doesn't miss too much of the summer in a cast. btw - if you can get the arm/cast inside a plastic bag and can tape it shut, she should be able to swim - that's what we did when one son broke his arm during the swimming season. He couldn't swim but he did get in the pool and have fun.

Thanks everyone. She just turned three so there is no way to make her understand what happened or what is going on. I hope the pink cast will make her feel a little better.

Chris, she will spring back in no time. Raising 5 Daughters and 2 of my Grandkids we have gone through many trips to the ER with them. I still remember those trips like they were yesterday.

Just read this, Sorry to hear your daughter got hurt, hopefully everything will pass quick and she will be right back to normal. Kids heal quick.

The wife and I send our best wishes to you and the family.

When she's done with the pink cast you can cast part of it into a pen for her, maybe one of the signatures.

She'll be back in no time.

When our daughter was 8 she broke her arm at the skating rink. We took her to the hospital. When the doctor came in, she said "can you do this" while she turned her own arm palm up. Immediately our daughter did the same. I heard a distinct grinding noise emitting from her arm. I got a serious case of "butt crack sweat", the room started spinning, I felt something cold on my shoulder, I looked over and it was the floor....

My wife still teases me about it, and it was 25 years ago.

Give her a hug, and give thanks for good doctors.

You said it. We have 4 daughters all of whom were athletes - one spring we had one twin break her ankle on a Tuesday (at first we thought it was just a sprain) and the other break hers the next day. At the same time we had an older sister complaining about stomach pain and we took her to the ER along with the twins. We told the other daughter "I if anything happens to you they'll be putting us in jail for child abuse."

Well we just got back from the Orthopedic and they took a few more Xrays that the Dr was not able to do last night. One angle shows that it was a clean break right at the elbow. She has a full cast from arm pit to thumb and is finally resting.

Here she is at th Dr still. I call it "Purdy in Pink"
