This past weekend, Wifey's nephew got married. He and his fiancé had asked for our help with a couple of wedding props. This was an outdoor wedding and they wanted a cross for the altar area. We ended up with a 2X8 cross 9 1/2' tall and almost 5' wide.
When Wifey's plan A for the cross floral arrangement fell thru due to a UPS mechanical issue. The ordered wedding garland would arrive at our home when we were in New Jersey for the rehearsal/dinner.......
...Plan B: Grab Some clippings from our magnolia tree before leaving, Walmart for some Oasis and a bird seed suet cage. Wegmans grocery store near the venue for greens and flowers.....making the arrangement in the hotel room after the rehearsal dinner.
Then the fragrance was so strong, we stashed the arrangement outside the hotel in the bushes for the night! She added the hydrangeas (which matched the brides bouquet) when we hung the arrangement on the cross before the wedding. The arrangement came out great!
Next Item: Narnia themed lamp post with sign for names and date.
Groom bought a Craig's list lamp post/light which needed a piece of glass and some repair. Then painting. I made a base from some stacked layers of MDF and painted it. The sign had their first names on one side with the year and their married last name on the other side. This came out well with out any snags.
We also rented a SUV to haul all this as our car was too small. This turned out to be a bigger project than first planned but that is the way these things go!
The wedding was beautiful and the following reception lovely as well.
As I write this, the newly wedded couple are on a cruise ship headed for open ports in the Bahamas or somewhere near there.
