I created a facebook page...and that is what I use for my advertising. On my business card, it shows:

www.facebook.com/innovationsinink

Much easier and free!

This may be the dumbest question, but how did you create a facebook page with an 'easy' web address? My wife made one and the address is some big long mess instead of something that you could put on a business card.

I use Shopify for $30/month but they have higher priced plans that allows you to send special offers to shoppers that abandoned their cart.

GW Pens | Handcrafted Pens from GW Pens, formerly Greco Woodcrafting

It also allows for faacebook integration so my entire 'store' is available for direct purchase through my facebook page, as well.

Shopify is the 3rd different e-commerce provider I've tried and I think I've finally found the one I'll stay with. Previously I had tried Big Cartel & Supa Dupa.

Steve- Once you have...25(?) Likes you can request a custom url through your page preferences.

Sorry but I only see 404 NOT FOUND on your webpages

Oh great :-( I tried to switch hosts last evening, and I thought everything was working, but apparently not. I switched it back to my old host for the time being, so give it a bit of time and it should start working again.

I have both but have only sold maybe 3-5 pens via my website. Most of my sales have been word of mouth & Facebook. Ive kept the website to present the Professional image but at the same time I did it myself and without having it created professionally and proper advertising & SEO, the website probably won't do well. I've had my site for about 4 years. I also have an easy shop & have sold zero there. Ebay sales equal about 3, but with ebay your competing with sellers willing to almost give their pens away and buyers who don't want to pay. I've sold approximately 150-200 since starting several years ago but its mostly been part time hobby but of late becoming very busy!

I have a web server and can help you set up a site. The domain is about $15 a year and I can give you free hosting for a few months to see if it is something you like. If you have any questions on how to set anything up, let me know, I would be happy to help (free of charge).

Irish Pat,

I suggest you look at using a site through Weebly, google it.

My wife and I are setting ours up now. it's relatively straight forward and there are three levels of cost and service. You can buy domain names through them and your URL will reflect this without any reference to Weebly. I also suggest linking a Facebook page to it just to increase awareness.

Good luck and enjoy your lovely country,
Cam

I run my site through Yahoo's small business program... I did the set up my self and pay about $14 per month. I also run a separate ETSY site... ETSY is cheap, free to set up and you can list about 70 items for the $14 I pay for my site and the listing lasts 4 months, so it's a good deal... problem is you can get lost in the shuffle so you have to keep a close eye on ETSY.... sales on ETSY are minimal, but have more than covered the costs I've incurred.... my site also has less sales than I would like, but average one or two a month and has always paid for itself over the years it has been up.

You can get your domain name and register it through the Yahoo small business program, plus it will link with paypal's merchant services so you can have a shopping cart as well.

I can say that since I opened a FB page for what I do, business increased dramatically! Unless you pay for carriers to "list" you in search engineers, your site is just pushed around by word of mouth anyway! Of course, FB wants your advertising $ too but it hasn't been necessary for me! I don't sell much and am not a busy business, but the web page, while good, was nothing compared to FB!!!!! Alas, since Xmas I have been REALLY slow! But again, I don't spend anything on advertising!!!! Good luck and don't overlook Facebook even if you do get a web page!!!! It also turns out that my host company has goofed up my domain somehow and is having trouble fixing it so I am currently without the web page AND our email boxes!!!!!!
STUPID CRAP!!!!!!!
