Earlier today I posted a link to the youtube video in this thread: https://www.penturners.org/threads/how-to-make-a-handle.175239/

The scoop mechanism is on sale this week, so you can find it here: https://www.exoticblanks.com/ice-cream-scoop-disher-project-kit.html

The handle I used is here: https://www.exoticblanks.com/acrylic-turning-project-blank-magma-swirl.html

Honestly, I have broken dozens of commercially produced scoops over the years, so I have never looked seriously at making them. However, this one is well designed--I believe it will be very utilitarian. It was easy to make, although it did take over an hour--pleasant diversion!!

The process is the same for nearly any handle, so watching the video will give you a good base for whatever handle project you undertake.

Enjoy!!

I've made some scoops, using kits, and they turned out well. At the recent AAW symposium, one of the presenters said he buys the scoops from IKEA, currently $3.99, and replaces the handle.
That's cheaper then what I have been buying.
