Friction Polish

This is from the 50+ year-old walnut tree my wife and I cut up three months ago. The tree had been lying there for 3 years after being blown over in a storm. The interesting thing about that tree was we kept coming across nails deep inside the tree. I tried to cut the blanks around those nails. But this little guy decided to hide two nails. Didn't even know they were there until twice turned the inside. They are not on the outside of the bowl. I'm figuring someone put those nails in that tree probably 30 years ago. The picture of me ripping the log is where this bowl came from.

Great looking bowl, Robert. Thanks for all the photographs showing the process.
Thanks... I've actually been posting the work on mediums... but I know I didn't here... Wanted everyone to see the downed tree. A lot of 'free' wood out there. Just got to be willing to work on it. With all the various size blanks I got out of this tree and the current, board foot cost of Walnut. I figured I have about $1000.00 worth of Walnut blanks now.
