I used my CNC router with home built rotary axis
to rough cut the Marbled Black Walnut.
Then V-Carved for the inlay.
I used turquoise inlace powder.
Then, finished on the lathe.
Completely excellent! As soon as I saw it I thought pens like that would be an immediate hit. The stuff I hear from my retailers generally sounds like, "Unique is best." And that is unique.
Thanks to all for your comments. It means a lot to this short time turner.
With all you great pen artists out there, I knew when I started turning, that I needed to think of something a little different and unique. I hope to do more with the CNC router.
RogerH, and anyone else not sure, here is a link that explains Vcarving a lot better than I can.
