I was just doing an ebay search for "vintage acetate" and up popped a bunch of hits for 'vintage acetate panties'. Who knew? I guess I've led a sheltered life.

old cellulose acetate like what was used to make fountain pens long, long ago (in the early 20th century); making cellulose acetate is an arcane secret art, and the most accomplished maker (Mazzuchelli) stopped making thick material (like pen blanks) and now only makes acetate sheets, primarily for use in eyeglasses and guitar picks

Yeah, at 75 I'm way too old to do anything about the former, so it's pen blanks for me! I'm pretty sure one is a rayon acetate, and the other is a celluloid.
