Took the weekend to try and document my process. It's the same as Don Ward outlines in the IAP Library, the only difference being where I'm sourcing solid brass to serve as a stepped plug - didn't want my primary source of plugs to be cannibalized from slimline kits ;)

Nicely done tutorial. My only question is how did you get the clip on there without bending it or scratching the pencil? I've done a few conversions similar to this and that has always been my struggle.

It's kinda tricky and I'm guessing I haven't found the perfect methodology yet. But I use a pair of needlenose pliers to expand the clip "ring" from inside while I try to slide it over the right spot on the pen barrel. In a perfect world there's a sweet spot where it's expanded enough to slide over pretty comfortably and without damaging the pen or finish, but it's not expanded so much to permanently increase the diameter of the ring - it still springs back into place and holds pretty firmly.
