As I was watching the Russ Fairfield video on how to make an Ultimate Russline last night, he began turning down the blank and his lathe (a Oneway) made a horrible screeching noise. He blew it off by saying, "Just a little vibration there, nothing I'm going to worry about." My lathe has been making the exact same sound for about a month and I just assumed that it had something to do with using a cheaper Harbor Freight lathe. I figured that I had to change the belt or that the problem was with the mandrel or something. Hearing it on his DVD, coming out of his lathe has got me wondering though. What is vibrating? How bad is it? How do I stop it? If Russ doesn't worry about it, should I?

Different lathe, different cause? If it does this all the time then I would investigate otherwise not to worry.
Great video. Got me very close to making kit less pens.
