I have a Jet 1014. I have noticed when drilling, the drill bit isn't on the center line of the stock.
When the center points are brought together they do meet though. I cleaned the tail stock base, center, and TS taper but the problem persists.
I put a shaft in the lathe chuck, and attached a shaft and Dial Indicator to it so the DI pin touches a dead center in the tail stock. Is this a valid way of testing the tail stock for alignment?
It appears to be out of alignment by about .100".
I figure I will have to either scrape or shim the base of the tail stock.
Any and all suggestions or ideas welcome!
