Vase w/collar a 1st

Yep, you guessed more Spalted Maple. This is my first ... what I would call a vase HF. With this I tried a collar out... don't know if I went through the best process of making one... but it came out okay. This is 5 1/2" high and 4 3/4" in diameter. I did much better in keeping the thickness this time at 1/4", but then again I wasn't fearing a blow out.

The collar reminds me of one of David Marks pieces, the English Sycamore w/Ebony rim.
It has always been a favorite of mine.
Now your's is too!

Excellant. What did you use for finish?

Thanks, the finish is two coats of Shellac, three coats of Gloss Wipe on Poly. Tripoli, White Diamond and then buffed with Ren wax.
