Variety remains the spice of life.

A dear friend (and long term patron) requested a polychromatic septet of stylus pens reflecting various techniques - I couldn't refuse; left to right:

Hand made paper, twice marbled
White enameled tube, twice marbled
Pastel drawing of a faux circuit board
Cubes in a resin matrix
Acrylic knife painting on brass tube
Mica cascade
Hand dyed silk wrap

I've posted about the various techniques in previous threads.

Happy Thursday to all - Bob

I will springboard off of 1 of your ideas to one of my own. cant imagine how I never done one in the past as it seems such a simple thing to do.

The mind is an amazing place when you open it to new thoughts.

Those are all so beautiful it's impossible to pick a favorite! I'd say the cubes... or maybe the knife painting... or faux circuit board... or...

I'd hate to be the guy in the booth next to yours at a pen show.

Many thanks for the kind comments!

Fun weekend ahead - refining some sand marbling techniques - some surfer buddies have expressed interest, so I'll pursue it - here's the first run of Ocean Beach, SF tubes:

I'll post the method after I get a little farther along.

Should work out OK so long as the Chordettes are at my side:

Warm regards to all, and have a great weekend - Bob

Amazing craftsmanship. If I ever need surgery, I know who to find.

Thanks for sharing your special talents, and being humble enough to share your process.

Heartfelt thanks for kind comments, Michael, Ankur, and Derek!

Ankur - I continue to work and teach a full schedule - surprising to realize that many doctors are unaware that the word doctor has an identical etymology in 3 languages, and means teacher in Medieval French and Latin and Middle English. Always glad to teach anything that might shed a little light.

Happy Sunday to all - Bob

WOW Bob, I think I have just awaken in "Haight Ashbury", sometime back in the 60's
Such Psychedelic Colours, and Random Designs, so Engrossing.
I look forward to Witnessing your Birth of the Sand Marbling, they also look Inspiringly Beautiful..
Truly Great Work my Friend.
Brian.

Thanks, James and Brian!

Brian - thanks for the fun and colorful memory:
"I think I have just awaken in "Haight Ashbury"

James - I'm reluctant to consider where the ideas come from - too much self-reflection might staunch the flow. We've already paraphrased and answered Hamlet's dilemma - "To turn or not to turn?"

Stay tuned.

Warm regards, and fun ahead - Bob

Yep, how about a tutorial on sand marbling?????

The Chordettes remind me of a time when music was simple and based on pure talent instead of the spectacular shows that accompany music and relies on $200K of electronics.

Michael and John - Should have some more "lab time" to tweak and post the sand marbling method in the next week.

John - Yes, there were so many truly great and talented, simply produced musical groups long before overproduction and star making machines took over. I miss it - but I thank heaven for the kindred spirits who post the real stuff on Youtube for those of us of long memory.

Happy Wednesday - Bob
