I made a classic fountain pen from woodturningz a while back. And since then I have made 3 big ink splattered explosions. So I've decided to ask the obvious question, how do you wright with these things????

Seriously, expound a bit on these explosions and perhaps some of us can try and see what's going on. An ink splattered explosion doesn't tell me much.

I'm not sure what happened, I just ended up with black finger tips. And now it won't wright. I think the black part on the nib has somthing to do with it. But I have no idea about anything fountain pen other than how to make one.

You using an ink cartridge or a converter for the ink? If a converter, try backing the piston up a bit to leave some air space in the cylinder.
And use a much lighter touch when writing, a fountain pen should need much less pressure on the paper than a ballpoint.
If you "primed" it with ink by squeezing a cartridge or forcing in k out by screwing the converter in, try using a napkin tightly around the nib section to remove any excess ink (it's only supposed to be between the metal nib and the black (plastic looking) feed, not on the outside of it anywhere.

When I was in high school, we weren't allowed to use ball point pens, all written papers had to be in ink from a fountain pen... I always seemed to have ink on my fingers... I would suggest your nib is leaking some and likely you are using too much pressure... if you press too hard, you can splay the split in the nib (where the ink flows to the point) and that will cause the blobs.... today I probably couldn't write with a fountain pen, in my 40 year career in the international shipping trade, we always wrote through multiple copies of our documents... trying to sign a 15 page airwaybill so that the signature shows up on the last page can leave some lasting bad habits with your penmanship.

A quick and dirty guess - you are pressing too hard. Fountain pens do not require a lot of pressure. If the pen is slow to start writing after sitting a day or two be patient.
