Well as many of you read, my wife got laid off last Tuesday. I went to my boss who went to one of the hiring managers the next morning. My boss had me hand deliver my wife's resume to the people in HR. They called her the following day and scheduled her for an interview this past Monday. The interview went really well and they had her fill out some paperwork which I brought back in on Wed. Next thing I know they had her going to take a drug test the same day. So as far as we can tell it looks like she might have a job. Granted we don't know the $/hr as of yet, but we do know it will be 3rd shift and weekends probably. It will be doing Help Desk work similar to what I do now. She is realistic and knows she won't get as much as she was making at her old job. We won't see each other too much since my schedule is M-F soon to be 8a-5p. Even the guy interviewing said he was impressed on how she went straight to looking for a job and not taking it as vacation time.

I wanted to personally thank all of you for your support and prayers in this matter. Nothing is official yet, but it looks pretty promising with them sending her to do the drug test. It will still be an adjustment for us both financially and time together, but we have made it through worse things together.

Good luck!! If she is as good a worker as it sounds, hopefully there will be options that open up for her that will allow your schedules to align soon.

And if not... Look at the bright side - the lathe can be your new best friend :)

Hope it works out for you guys, its kind of cold in Columbus for her to be selling pens on street corners this time of year

That's great news!!! It's very rare these days that companies take on new staff so close to Christmas.

Sounds like she'll be primed to jump on better openings when they show up in the company, too. This could well be a once in a lifetime job opportunity if it's seen through to the end. Congrats!

Must be working out, because the interviewing manager left a message with my wife today about starting this coming Monday. WOW! That has to be the fastest I have seen anyone lose their job and get rehired.

Well, it looks like the depression in your house didn't last too terribly long. Best of luck to you both. Being on different shifts does have its benefits from time to time. Fingers still crossed.

That is great Todd...God has plans for you guys, He never gives you more than you can't handle, be sure and thank him..........Have a Merry Xmas and Happy Happy New Year...

She got the job! She just signed and sent in the offer letter. It is a $3/hr pay cut, but it will still work out anyhow. I am so HAPPY! Also instead of 3rd shift, sounds like she might be working 9a-6pm. If that holds true we will be able to car pool together because we will only have an 1hr difference on start/stop times.
