So I did a TON of research online for a good saw. I had lots of options and lots of variations in cost. I finally decided on the 14" Porter Cable band saw at Lowe's. It had great reviews on the site and the price was decent, not to mention no freight charge. I then bought a 10tpi 1/2" wide Timber Wolf blade from WC for it. I got it put together yesterday with my wife's help and it cuts through stuff like butter. It was $449.99 and then my Dad works at Lowe's so he bought it for me, using the money I gave him, with his 10% off discount. So I felt good about the price and the unit. So thankful my wife helped me as that thing is one heavy beast. Looking forward to being able to cut bigger things now. Just wanted to let you guys know what I decided on and bought.

congrats on ur new tool,I also got a porter-cable planer, I needed one for my Ring master, now got to build a stand and start enjoying fixing scrap wood

I'm glad you decided to go with a 14" saw.... It will be a great addition to your shop! Check out Mark Duginske's book The Bandsaw Handbook sometime ... You can probably get it at the library. Learning to properly adjust the guides and fine tuning the saw along with good blades will make a big difference in how well it performs.
Before long you will be making bandsawn boxes!

Congratulations on your new band saw! I think you will love that band saw! Started any project yet?

Not yet. Been too cold out there lately, or I have been too tired. I do have heat out there, but with school work and regular work, right now I just can't get the desire to head out there lol.

Oh I see, it's bad to let your band saw sitting out there lonely. I think he's pretty excited to make wood stuff with you. Just kidding.
School work? Are you an instructor or something?
