I found this burl on the way home from our holiday a few weeks ago, unfortunately I have no idea which Eucalyptus it is. It looks very like the Red Mallee???????

It stands 5.25in tall and is 6.5in wide.

Finish is Lacquer after 400 grit sanding

I had to hold it together with hose clamps to stop it from disintegrating.

Hope you like it.

As usual C & C welcome.

Bob.

That piece of wood is full of holes, I would return it
Or, you could just sent it to me!

Beautiful hollow form, Bob. Your skill levels are showing! Takes a practiced turner to keep something that fragile together.

I agree, it looks like Red Mallee, but then again, what do I know of Oz timber?

Great looking bowl Bob !! Most bowls I have seen only have one or very small exclushions. It takes real talent to hold something like that together to the finished product. Jim S

Verrrrry Nice Work! Are you Brave...or Foolish? Turning a piece destined to literally fly apart in your face!! Anyway, I am glad that your attempt at RLE (rapid lateral expansion) failed: the result being this beautiful vase. I would love to have something like that to point to, as an item I had turned. Great effort, truly fine result.

I'm going to have to start riding on the roads you drive! All I ever find is Pine!! Or worse...

Very nice, I'm guessing you must sell a bunch of these? Where?

Hi Scott,

Our Craft club has an Annual Exhibition each year, (opens 5th Sept.) and a lot of stuff gets sold there. This year we are having a stall at the Geraldton Craft Fair and another one at the Northampton Airing of the Quilts. Hopefully that will clear the cupboards for some more stuff.
