Don't assume that the parts from one kit are the same as another even when only the plating is different. In most cases this isn't an issue and would just result in the cap turning a bit more or less to the closed position. For some applications though, it can make a huge difference! DAMHIKT!
The picture below is of the internals from 3 cap assemblies. The 2 on the left have the same inset distance to the beginning of the threads. The one on the right is a shallower distance.
The one on the top left is from a titanium baron kit that I used on the cigar pen pictured below. The one on the right is from a gold titanium baron. The one in the foreground is from a less expensive Jr Gent kit.
Needless to say I will be a bit more observant in the future!:biggrin:

great looking pen! Can you tell me how you created the blanks? My dad is has been smoking cigars for 50 years! If your process is secret that's cool too. Just wanted to say great job!
