I got to thinking, which gets me into trouble sometimes.

Years ago I got into fly fishing and eventually fly tying. Going fly fishing was an adventure in itself. Mad River was always a Mad House with everyone trying to cram into the only river section in Ohio with trout and it's about a 2-1/2hr drive for me. And living where I do and not having any place to really fly fish I gave up on it after a few years and just left everything set up in one room. Towards the end most of what I ended up tying were what I called woolly streamers. They were my own design and geared towards the heavy weights and even bait/spin casters. For the last 4-5yrs my Dyna-King Barracuda vise has just sit idle but I still have tons of material. The moth balls have kept everything safe and now I want to use this material in my pen making. I already had 7mm,8mm and 3/8" tubes and picked up some 27/64" tubes at woodcrafters the other day.

Soooo......I've read through the tutorials (several times) and think I have figured out what needs to be done and how to cast them.

My question is, are their any tips/tricks or precautions I should be aware of before starting this new venture?

I've done pens but they really look nice on bottle stoppers. Just about with all of casting/pen turning, practice and do what you like.
