Two spalted beech ovoid hollow forms

Hello folks

here are two forms which I have made today, I really enjoy this form and revisit it every so often, it's a very simple shape but I find it very difficult to get right.
Both forms are 3 1/2" wide by 3 7/8" tall (give or take a 1/16")

I sure would like to watch over your shoulder while your making one of these.


Question though....are these pieces 'stabilized'?

George your HF are beautiful to say the least! I can't imagine how you hollowed them with such a tiny opening... I know, VERY CAREFULLY!!! Again, beautiful turning and thanks so much for sharing! Merry Christmas and safe turning always!

No Scott, if the wood is worked with at the right time the spalting is decorative but hasnt gone too far and caused any excessive soft areas- there is very little (if any) stabilized wood here in the u.k.

Going through a lot of spalted wood here, I can't remember ever 'catching it at the exact right time'....

You have the ability to create some really get pieces!!!
