A friend of mine wants me to make a Atrax Rollerball using turquoise andwood. She wants to top of the pen to be turquoise and the bottom to be wood.

Any recommendations on what type of wood to use that will go well with theturquoise? Please something simple.

I was thinking mesquite too. I might stop by my local Kroger and see if I can pick up a 20 lb bag of mesquite. If I am lucky, I might find some with holes I can fill with turquoise powder.

Back in the 50' and 60' in upper Michigan, all the gift shops had "indian" jewelery. there was a lot of turquoise paired with aromatic cedar. Both were local to the UP and the tribes that inhabited the area in 1700s.

If you go to the Kroger at Hwy 78 & Murphy Rd. you can stop by here, Sachse, and I can hook you up with some mesquite. I'm 2 blocks off that intersection. Let me know.

Is she set on each piece being totally different material? How about the cap and body in a turquoise tru-stone and trim the end with aluminum and what ever wood as trim on either end...

Or...Cholla Cactus and fill with the turquoise......

OH COOL! That turned out very nice... I have seen other pictures of similar combinations and have liked them.

You did well (I wrote the blank combination down ).

Collaboration... never hurts to get 5, 10, 15 suggestions - WE are better than ME. I like that you asked for suggestions.
