Turning without a mandrel

Although I have been turning and selling pens for several years I only recently heard about turning without a mandrel. It was in the Penturner's Corner column in the March-April issue of More Woodturning. I would like to explore this more and want to know where I can get the bushings referred to in the article. Can anyone help me? Thanks, Todd

The standard bushings for anything over 7mm will work. Just put them between centers. Nicer bushings are made by johnnycnc but it appears he stopped making them for a little while.
 
Thanks guys. I appreciate the info. I have emailed johnnycnc, but no reply to date. I can understand he is probably tired of answering questions like mine. I will give the "factory" bushings a try and see what I get. Actually, I don't have much,if any, trouble turning with a mandrel, but I always like to try new things. That attitude could get me in trouble with my wife!
 
I am sure John will reply to e-mails, he is a great guy. However, he does get busy at times and mighy not of had a chance to read them yet.

I am very curious, is that article you mention "linkable" by chance?
