A wallstreet turned yesterday; anyone know what kind of wood it is?

Sorry, I cannot identify the wood but it has a great grain. Nice looking pen.

almost looks kinda like cross cut sycamore or red oak

David, after looking at the other picture, i'd agree with Wayne an Marla, looks like a crosscut red oak. It's stunning what ever it was though. It's not Sugi, pretty sure of that now.

Could also be heartwood beech.
Some of it around here is more brown that tan/white

Great looking pen. It looks like London Plane to me. Hope you find some more of the same kind of wood.
