Turncrafter Pro Bearing size?

Anyone know what the size is of the bearings in the Turncrafter Pro? I'm thinking it is easier to just replace them myself rather than sending the thing in for repair. The bearing I can see is marked 6006-2RS, which is a 30x55 bearing. I've found them in two widths, 9 and 13mm, not sure which one to get. So far, I've been unable to knock the spindle out, so I can't get the bearing out to measure it. I'll work on the spindle some more later, didn't want to keep the family up trying to hammer it out using a block of wood to protect the threads.

the 6006-2RS is a standard size bearing.
the 6006 is the size and includes the correct width and the 2RS is two rubber seals.
Just go to local bearing shop (Motion Industries is one and MSC also does these if you need mail order but more expensive) and they can fix you up.
Let me know how it goes cause I have a Turncrafter also and I think I am starting to hear a little noise.

That's what I thought too, until I went to www.vxb.com and searched on that code. It comes up with the two different widths that I mentioned. Nice to know that a set of two bearings is only $15 + shipping though.

Just checked a few other sites, seems 13mm is the common width. I'll measure mine first, if I'm ever able to get the spindle out.

Get the Nachi bearings (far better than any junk out there) It looks like the 6006-LL is only $7.11 each and if I am correct, the LL is the rubber sealed one. Thanks for the tip! I'll certainly give them a call once I get the spindle out. I'll try again this weekend. Are the spindles supposed to be hard to remove? I was smacking on the block of wood pretty good last night, was putting some good dents in it from the spindle side, yet it didn't seem to budge any. In fact, the entire lathe was scooting across my table. The spindle hasn't been removed before as I'm still on my original belt.

James: The bearing number defines the width/thickness of the bearing. A 6006 bearing is 13 thick/wide. Here is a a short note on the 6006 bearing that I borrowed from a beating site.

The 6006 series bearings have envelope dimensions of 30x55x13. This series bearing is normally used in applications where space limitations are a primary consideration and shaft sizes are relatively large. This bearing is for light-duty applications. These bearings are available in sealed or shielded configurations. Generally speaking, shielded bearings (ZZ) are more practical in cleaner, high-speed applications, while the sealed bearings (2RS) are more practical for applications of slower speeds and dirtier environments. These bearings are self-lubricated, making them virtually maintenance free.

Don't run out and buy a set of bearings until you have disassembled the lathe as there is a good possibility that the two bearings are different. I have not taken my JET mini apart; but the owner's manual shows different stock numbers for the two bearings suggesting they are different sizes. Try emailing Don Ward or Ron McIntyre.....they both have replaced their Jet bearings and can tell you if they are different.....although their experience may not be specifically applicable to your TURNCRAFTER.
