Most pens I make are for Woodcrafts Turn for Troops, while the event is in November I work these all year.
This year they had 3 pounds of acrylic blanks for $12.00 and I thought I would use these for this year's pens.
I cut them into 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" lengths and combined with various woods.
The wood part has a CA finish, the acrylic is polished and buffed.
The joint is chamfered to eliminate the possible uneven edges when turned.
The 3# ended up making about 100 pens of which I have 25 to go. By November I'm ready for a break.
