Anybody know a source of 1/2" or 12.5mm tubes....about 2 1/8" or longer?

Smitty, My local Ace hardware sells brass & stanless tubes 12" long. Standard but not metric.

What about hobby/model stores? I know the local one used to carry various different sizes before they went out of business.

K & B tubing is available in 1/2" diameter but you should check the inside diameter to be sure its what you want. I have a lot of brass tube with proper outside diameter and too small inside diameter. Wall thickness has to be right to press fit the pen parts.
