I have had a couple of near misses due to the CA glue setting up before I got the tube where I wanted it so I made up an insert tool. This may not be a new idea but is to me. I nomally plug the end with a bit of modeling clay and clamp the forceps in the open end. The only thing you need to get use to is get use to the forceps working opposite a normal pair of pliers. I bent the tips out enough to slide in a 7mm tube and they have enough range to fit the larger tubes.

I found that one of my TORX/Roberts screwdrivers also fits a 7mm tube.... like the forceps idea, but I dont have access to one right now ...

I use playdoh to cap the ends, lay some thick ca around the inside edge, place some on the tube exterior and the insert the tube and push it down on a piece of cardboard so one end is flush.
Simple and never fails.

I am less than 20 pens into this hobby, so questions are plentiful in my head. Why are you pplugging the tube before inserting it? is it to prevent glue from getting inside?

YUP.

I have switched to epoxy, and have never plugged the ends before, but I think some of the epoxy seeped in one end, now it should be easy to clean, but I'll start plugging some ends before it becomes a REAL issue.

I have never found a need to plug the ends of the tube. I mainly use Gorilla glue and sometimes CA if in a rush. IF a little glue gets in the tube, I just use a craft knife (Exacto) to scrape or pop out the residue. It usually comes out easily.

I dont pug ends either but if I were going to I would use a cheap toilet wax ring (bout 2.00) they are made of bees wax!! Oh yea use a new one!!!

I use aq-tip to wipe a thin coat of Johnon's floor wax on the insides of the tubes. If you get any CA in the tube the floor wax makes it easier to get out of the tubes.
