I have gotten to rewrite some code for the woodchucks, and sort of managed to make one with the round insert, I really have my reservations about the tool, I actually made a cute little goblet this afternoon, and tried to use my light saber,(what my wife calls my woodchuck) it worked good on the outside roughing the miniature goblet out of a piece of 3x3 padauk I almost got a cup formed on the inside, but my woodchuck was just a bit too big to get any contour, and with no bowl gouges, I was limited to an old scraper, it sort of worked, but the inside of this goblet was only an inch and a quarter inside, I tried the round insert but couldn't get near center with out the bottom of the tool rubbing, As soon as I get a bit mor over this shingle garbage I'll try it on something bigger.
Apparently some folks are even having trouble with the Ci0 of Craig Jackson's I've seen several comments on another forum about it acting up, the thing I made was pretty ugly but it may work, I just hate to spend 146.00 for one end mill, and haven't had a chance to go back to school since I glued 4 1x6 pieces of poplar together and if I don't feel too bad tomorrow I'll try that,.
The goblet was looking good, I had it pretty well sanded and parted off then got stupid and tried to form the inside a little better, (what a dumb arse)

I have a small round insert (barely larger than 1/4 inch) that will get into tight corners, but it is not for larger items. What size of round insert are you using?

I can see me using a 5/8" round (give or take 1/8") for larger turnings and using the smaller tool for tighter contours.

Lee the insert's I've been able to get are 11 mm which is right at 7/16 I tried to do some clean up on a little goblet that I made last week, the inside was only about 1.25 in. but I felt that I should have been able to do a small amount of contouring and finishing with it, I had the insert riding right at or with in a few thousandths below dead center, I was a bit upset any way and not feeling well but I think I still should have gotten better results, The inserts are awfully expensive, and with the nose of my tool cut to the matching 15 degrees of the insert, I was still rubbing on the bottom.
I have some wood glued up that I will try again only on a 8 inch Poplar bowl and see how it works,
