I made my boys some pencils. They are small (6 and 5) and the thick body is nice and easy to grip. The lead is also so thick that it's tough to breack. I let them each pick out the blank. And, because they get a kick out of when we have matching things, I made one for myself, too. The blue is the Carribean Waters rhinoplastic (the chippy one I'd posted about a few days ago). The red is a Conway Stewart stardust. And the greenish one is a teal pearl kirinite.

Well done, and great for memories all around.
I wish I made the stands. I bought them off a guy on etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/617512366/wooden-penpencil-stand?ref=yr_purchases. He took a week to make them, and felt bad about it so he sent me two!! I didn't really care, but they do look nice. With decent lighting and the right backdrop, they make for a pretty professional set-up.
