From time to time, I find myself "searching" one IAP thread after another for posts related to a specific topic. I then cut and paste the information into Word document. I'm wondering if we might be interested in making this a collaborative effort and then posting the topic specific documents in the library?
For example, I have some Tru-Stone that I'm going to turn. I haven't worked with Tru-Stone for quite some time so I decided to do a search in the IAP Forum for "Tru-Stone". I then came up with loads of hits from various threads and topics related to Tru-Stone. I then went through each thread and cut and pasted snips of important tips and information into an MSWord document. I then saved the document and make a hard copy that I put in my Tru-Stone blanks box.
And, that got me thinking. Maybe the information that I found would be valuable to another member who was about to do the same thing? So, what if I took that Word document and put it in the library for others to use. Of course, I would date the document so we would know which period of information it covered.
Now . . . suppose we made this a collaborative effort. One in which we each took a different topic related to pen turning . . . . did a search in the IAP Forum . . . . and cut and pasted the information into a document that was placed in the Library?
For example, one person could take "M3" . . . . another might take "Alabaster" . . . . or . . . . "Making Carbide Chisels". The possible topics could go on and on. But it might be one way of compiling the information that is found in tidbits throughout the IAP threads.
It's just a suggestion. I wonder if there would be any interest in working on this collaboratively?
