Tool Rests by Richard C. Herrell

I ordered new 4" and 6" tool rests from Rick for my Rikon mini lathe. The stock rest is made from cast iron and was not up to the task; the lathe is fine and I like it.

I am amazed at the quality of Rick's work. These rests are simply perfect in every way. I cannot wait to turn something to feel the difference. If you need a new tool rest - get in touch with him on this forum and buy his stuff. I also purchased his sander that should be excellent too.

Is there another Herrell on IAP that makes tool rests? I have bought from RICK (RHerrell) in Pilot Mtn, NC. His tool rests, dead centers, and in fact, everything I have purchased from him has been top quality.

I've heard others here mention Robert C. Herrell, but haven't found him in the member directory

He has made me a 4" and a 2" for turning miniatures and they are great. I also have a mandrel and bushings for turning pentel pencils.
I recommend him for any work of this type.

I also bought 4 rests and 2 posts and I gotta say they are the best by far. Not only are the rests great quality but the service I received was outstanding.

I used them and the smooth surface of the rest makes me turn better. The lateral movement is smooth not with no hitches like with the stock Rikon rest. I had tried to smooth the stock rest, but never like the mirror finish of Rick's rest. I too liked his quick service and great communication even when he sends you to someone else to meet your needs.
