As some of you may, or possibly may not know, I have had a small WoodMizer bandsaw mill in my backyard for a few years. I do a little custom milling for people that have come by with their own logs, and had quite a lot of very happy people driving away with beautiful lumber. And I still do quite a lot of milling for myself...it is still enjoyable to get the blanks I need for day-to-day stuff on the 'cheap'.


So I have decided to join the WoodMizer Pro Sawyer Network!
What does this mean? Simple, I am listed on their website as a place where the person that would like to see the 'ins-and-outs' of sawmill operation before purchasing one.....

The pay is about the same as being a moderator here.....but that isn't why I signed up anyway. I would like to be the one to share the experience with first timers/possible future sawyers, with the sense of amazement to see the fresh slab, flitch, or board come off the log laying there. The colors and grain structure can be truly out-of-this-world!!!


I invite anyone that would like to learn, or 'whatnot' to come by(make sure I'm home first though)!!! There is absolutely no cost for this...none, nada!!!

You'd have to warn me first....if not, the bands are locked up(I don't leave the bands mounted to the wheels). By 'warning me', I can get one out for you.....

Don't mind the dog either, she just wants attention(belly rubs)!

Wish i lived closer, doing what i do for a paycheck, stuff like that is interesting to me. Place i work at has a woodmizer inside the plant for cutting the billets of parallam, they are going to auction it off, starting bid is $5000.

You need to post some more pics to other thread, enjoy looking at whats inside of the log.

Scott I wish I lived closer to you, I have been wanting to learn to use one of these for years. I would come and help you every chance I have. I love these machines and still really want one.

Nice!

One of my co-workers has a WoodMizer ... we have made use of it many times for handling resawing operations and other chores. One time we had a large piece of driftwood we needed to make into a fireplace mantel.
Looks like you have a lot of fun with it! I know I have enjoyed turning some of the pieces it has cut. :smile:

Milled for a customer. We scale on the Doyle system, fairly....only thing is if there is metal of any kind....cha-ching on the band charge. He wasn't forthcoming about the bullets, and it cost a bit extra(but it'll actually be worth it for him, as he'll design a kitchen table out of them!

Milling

I have had trees milled up from my own property, and from timber recovered from wood recycling lots that would have been chipped up or cut up for firewood. Some of my best projects have come from recycled trees, the anticipation to see what's inside is the best part.

That looks like fun. I have a friend who does that and, he built a kiln from cement blocks, heavily insulated and the heat source, is a 300 watt light bulb. He's getting some beautiful wood from the operation and it liiks like you will too.

If you are in serious need of a sawyer, give this >>>>> LINK <<<<< a try! You may have to look in a bordering state if there are no sawyers listed for your own.


I have some friends in Washington State that are on the list....give them a shout!!
