My apologies, but life intervened. First a bad bout with mycoplasmal pneumonia, then my father's death. I've spent most of the spring and early summer running back and forth to OK settling his estate.

The tree trimmer who promised to bring his big saws and cut up these crowns, then haul away what I didn't want did a bunk. I have a backyard full of huge pieces of mulberry. I bought a bigger chain saw, but it is heavy going.

My old Ohio Forge bandsaw can't take a riser kit, so I brought my dad's 1946 Delta bandsaw home this spring. I just got the riser kit installed and as soon as I get the new tires on, it will be good to go.

I cut up some of the smaller pieces, but it is hard to get good blanks from them because they are so pithy. The bigger crowns have more solid scar tissue in them. I will begin cutting them as soon as the weather breaks a bit. Right now, our LOW is 91 degrees, so even early in the morning it is pretty bad out there. I still have all your names. I just coldn't cut any decent blanks with the equipment I had. I had to struggle just to get a few good blanks for my own use.

I have a big tub of blanks cut, but most of them would have to be cast in resin to use. The wood is pretty, but very fragile. The last pen I tried to make blew up 4 times on the lathe, and I had to drill three pieces before I got one that didn't blow up on the drill press. The wood is beautiful, but it is really challenging me! I will let you know when I have blanks to ship.

I really want to get some of this wood out of my backyard! I have 5 TRAILER LOADS of it. Several local turners have come and taken some pieces and I dropped some off in OK on my last trip. But it hasn't even made a dent in what I have. But it is worth waiting for. Here is the last pen I made.

That is a lovely looking blank and pen.
What would the cost be to post some to Australia, the small packet about 1 1/2" X 6" X 8" long preferably the non punky, as I don't think our Custom Service would allow it to come in.

As they say, life happens. Take your time as we need you around more than we need the blanks. That is one beautiful pen and blank.

Take care

Sharon : Very nice work and the wood is nice too. Life happens sometimes we just have to do whats needed to take care of our ourselves and family. When it gets done it will get done.

I have no idea, but when I get some good blanks to ship, I will find out.
