Good morning all,

I hope you are all doing well!
I've been making pens as gifts for friends and family, and am looking for an additional way to personalize them for each individual. I had the idea to wood burn their name or a VERY short and small note on each one, prior to the finishing process. Assuming the color of the wood would allow.

Does anyone have any experience with trying this? Do's, don'ts, etc.?

I did wood burning on a Zen style pen. I think the body was maple. As I recall. I sketched the design with pencil and followed the lines.

I can't reply to your specific way - woodburning itself. However, as to personalizing them, it has been common for many to use laser engravers.

Here is one search: https://www.penturners.org/search/87981/?q=NEJE&o=relevance

there are other laser engravers of different qualities and power available too. Most are purchased on eBay.

Then there are rotary Jigs to make the pen rotate as more lines are done:
Thank you! I was wanting to avoid laser engravers for the time being, but I am open to them in the future.
