Well what can I say .... I was bitten on a trip to Cancun years ago and bought a timeshare and regret it. Now I am stuck with something we only used once due to high flight costs from Canada.

Has anyone had one and gotten rid of it? I don't want to keep paying maintenance fees and banking weeks I wont use. I have 3 weeks paid for and it pains me that they will go to whom ever gets this thing but it is the lesser of the evils.

If anyone has a legitimate way to deal with timeshares please let me know. If someone is interested in using the weeks (no cost) send a pm and we can talk.

We bought a time share many years ago when the girls were still little;
the resort we own at is a 5-star location about 30 miles from Disney and 15 to Cape Canaveral.
There are NO blackouts or restrictions for trading to go to other places.
Oddly, we ended up moving near our resort so we don't use it for vacation these days.
However, they have a rental pool which we put the unit in and its rent more than covers the fee.
You should ask if they have a rental pool.

Well we looked at them for years and I went to one in Fairmont Hot Springs and we bought there. What I did learn was buy it in Canada as its in Canadian $$$$$$$$$ the cost of maintenance can only go up (can't remember the %) in Canada per year not like the USA based ones. But onething they all have in common they are all very difficult to get out of. There is one company on the Island that gets rid of time shares, like sell off time shares .com and you dont want to get involved with them, they are worse than the sharks themselves.

Trade Ya. Lol

I also got one about 25 yrs ago.. I thought me and the wife would use it by Busch Gardens.. They were suppose to build a big waterpark on one of the lots.. They still haven't broken ground on it yet.. Could of bought a motorhome for what I am paying in maint fees...

I goofed big time buying in Cancun (Avalon Grand now called NYX Hotel) with flight costs being the lions share of vacation package prices. I would love to get rid of it but finding a buyer is impossible even for almost free.

I got smarter and bought a second house in Invermere BC for vacations, drive instead of fly : )

Contact the company directly. We did and they gave us the name of a company they recommend to sell it. Any company that wants money up front is one to steer clear of. They already have your money so they don't care if they sell for you.

I owned one from about 25 years back... the fees kept growing to the point I could have paid for a nice hotel for what I paid in "maintenance fees"... I tried to sell it through one of the companies that "guaranteed to sell it"... they wanted money up front too... so about 20 years back, I called the company and told them I wasn't paying the maintenance fee, wasn't going to sell it... the could take it back or it would just sit... haven't heard from them since.

In the long run, a time share is a great con... not much pro.
