When I first got my lathe I inserted the mandrel in the head stock and have been using it for over three years. Recently I wanted to make some bullet pens that require some boring that has to be more precise than I can do on the drill press. I got a drill chuck and the center poped out ot the tail stock no problem. When I went to remove the mandrel from the drive side it would not move. I tried a rubber dead blow hammer nothing. Ended up taking the headstock apart and took it into the plant where I set it up in the 13 ton press. Started putting the squease on it still nothing. Just when I was about to give up I gave it one more pull on the jack it came apart with a big bang. The ram rod tool is a little bent but all the important parts are in good shape. I guess I should remove the mandrel taper or a regular basis before in grows in position.
