Good for you, but I have a question. Who will present you a diploma from home school? I've never known anyone who has done this. Just curious.

It kind of depends on how things are set up. My wife and I have homeschooled our three kids, and our middle son is going to be graduating this year. If he's affiliated with an independent study group, it could be the group administrator, or a member of the board of directors. If he's with a private school, it could be the principal. Usually a group of moms will arrange a graduation ceremony, with all the bling and flair. At least that's how it's been done with the groups we've been affiliated with over the years.

I had friends that were home schooled. Before graduation, they took the state issued tests and graduated with our class. It's been a while ago but, I think that's what they told us.

I think that getting a diploma will vary from state to state depending on the arrangements they have for home schooling.

I most states I've known anything about diplomas, the diploma is not issued by the state it is issued by the local school district where the student went to school. The high school might or might not be accredited by the same agency that accredits colleges in the geographic area.

Private and home school students often have to take and pass any state tests required to graduate from public school - when that is the case colleges will often recognize the diploma even though it might be issued by parents.

There is no standard for whether or not colleges will recognize ANY high school diploma (with perhaps the state colleges and universities recognizing diplomas from schools within their state) each college setting its own policy...same for military.
