that is black walnut that i cut 6 30 deg inserts in 2 opposite sides, used plywood fillers, turned , finished with 'doctors woodshop' walnut oil/ and wax

Creatative....I'd say yuo been think outside the box on your segmenting! And using plywood will keep you in plenty of pieces too!
