Since you posted in the advanced pen making forum I would suggest taking half an hour or so and reading some of the half dozen or more threads about threading posted in this forum in the past few weeks.

There are dozens and dozens of posts discussing the very things you are asking about and think you might enjoy the reading.

I've seen several threads discussing different projects, but no info on the process or the basic equipment.

I thought i was the only one that went to that site. You can also Google,(how to tap & die) and you will get many many hits. After that you can streamline your questions. Carl
