Okay so the stuff I ordered to be able to use my own (read sharpen my own) tools and equipment on base is starting to arrive. I ordered some through Amazon and get this when checking USPS's tracking service.

March 17, 2009 02:27:00 AM --- Departure Scan March 16, 2009 06:48:00 PM --- Arrival Scan March 16, 2009 05:59:00 PM MARTINSBURG WV Arrival Scan March 16, 2009 01:16:55 PM Sterling VA US Shipment has left seller facility and is in transit

The only problem is I live in Woodbridge. Check Google map directions from Sterling VA, to Martinsburg, and stopping in Woodbridge VA....a little out of the way. Kind of funny and makes me realize why they have to keep raising stamp prices.

Spoke & Hub distribution model.. go figure. I live in Stafford, just a few miles South of you. Ordered something from Richmond, it went to NJ down to Fredericksburg and then out for delivery in Stafford.

It's great isn't it. It seems that with modern technology it could be made a lot more efficient, like all the either UPS or FedEx trucks no longer making left turns so they don't idle.

I used to work for a company, in Florida, that used Airborne. Anytime they had a snow storm in Ohio, packages we were sending from Florida to Florida weren't delivered. The reason was because the hub was in Ohio so the trucks were sitting at the Orlando Int'l Airport waiting for packages to arrive from Ohio. Since packages weren't arriving from Ohio, because of the weather, our packages weren't getting delivered next day, like the guarantee stated. I asked an Airborne rep if that meant, guaranteed next day unless it snows and she said "yes". Got to love it.
