Yes it is, have had one since I saw this episode several years ago. Much easier to use to put a hole in the center of each end of a spindle blank than anything else I've used. Makes a nice hole about 1/8" deep and easy to line up accurately with your center mark. They also make a set of 5 different spring tools that help do little jobs like punches and a chisel. I don't use them as much as the basic tool, but they are great.
 
I also have a set and find them to be very useful around the shop. That said, I have not been smart enough to use them the way that MTViper does, but I will from now on.

I ran across a video on facebook and then went looking for youtube videos on them. I think I seen a video from a year or so ago from Woodcraft or a guy mentioning he got them at Woodcraft. They also have a website and I just looked there but there sight is down right now, it was up yesterday. But while I did a search, it also came up available from Amazon and Rockler. And I sure there are more outlets for these.
