I do a few crafts on the side and was looking at a couple bracelet mandrels for sizing, but then I thought "Duh, I have a lathe! and a wood pile" It's a silly simple thing really. A walnut tree had fallen in my yard about a year and a half ago, so I split a log and went to town. It looks kinda cool wit the mix of heartwood and sapwood with a few "bug trails". The lines are wire burned in 1/2" increments from 6-8". It ended up with a cant to it like the Tower of Pisa from the original bandsaw cut, but that makes pictures easier for me anyway. I'm sure my wife will get plenty of use from it, too (probably more than me).
For what it's worth, the beads are Mexican crazy lace agate and the button is Jobillo/Goncalo Alves. The scraps from turning pens make great (and unique) buttons!
