Ok my I have been trying out a new CA finish technique. The first time I tried was with ambonya burl and it came out real nice, almost like glass. That was yesterday, then today I tried the same finish on purpleheart and couldn't get the shine/gloss finish on it. My question is can the cold affect the way the CA finishes. Cause yesterday it was nice and warm, and I got a nice finish. Today it was cold and I couldn't get a good finish.
Tell me what you think,

Clay:
It could be the cold, but I suspect the problem is the purpleheart. It always gives me fits when using a CA finish.

My best results with PH has been to sand to final, then wipe the blank clean with a spray of liquid CA accelerator. Additionally (you didn't describe your process), but I NEVER add BLO in the CA process for purpleheart, Cocobolo, Olive Wood or any other oily wood.

I hope this helps!
