I have read and tried the CA/BLO finishing method by Fred Munday http://www.penturners.org/content/CA-BLO.pdf. I really like it, but I found that the BLO tends to darken the wood. While I like the darkening effect for some woods, I don't want to darken other woods; like purple heart.

Has anyone tried other oils such as Lemon oil or mineral oil? If so, how do they stack up vs. BLO?

Also, are there any other recommended oil(s) to use that won't darken the wood?

Thanks.

Also forgot to mention many of us have stopped using blo and are just using CA now. This is due to periodically getting a cloudy finish. Straight CA should also minimize the darkening of the wood.
