Our next door neighbors are just like family! We love them dearly. When their daughter, Julie Ann, decided to marry a man from Wales, we were distraught. Not because we had anything against him or Wales, but because we wouldn't be seeing too much of Julie Ann.

As it turned out, Julie Ann's Welch husband is a GREAT person. We all feel that she married well and he is as much family as she.

Whenever the neighbors go to Wales, We take responsiblility for the cats, mail and odd jobs that need to be done. On their first visit to Welchpool, our neighbors asked what we would like from Wales. Being the smart ape that I am, I immediately said " tell Julie Ann to send me the best Wales has to offer"

Upon the return, our neighbors presented us with McVitie's Jaffee cakes and Hartley's Blackcurrant Jam.

My first thoughts were "poor Julie Ann, I hope she really loves him". After tasting one Jaffe Cake, my opinion immediately changed! What heaven on earth!!! Then we put the Hartlye's jam on the morning toast. WOW!

Our neighbors just returned from the bi-annual visit to Welchpool and my wife and I almost hurt ourselves delivering the mail so that we could get at our Jaffies and "Jambbb".

We have decided that we really miss Julie Ann and may make the trip over to see our kindred spirit.

Does anyone know if you can ship Jaffee Cakes and
Blackcurrant Jam on a container ship and what the maximum import quantities are?

I saw Jaffa Cakes on Amazon I suspect you can find the Jam there as well since the company selling was called something like British American Imports.

So the short answer to your is probably yes - in small quantities and within certain weight and value limits there is probably no customs but you would have to check to see what those limits are.

The answer to your question is yes, you can ship about anything on a container ship you are willing to pay for... a 20' container from the UK will be somewhere in the neighborhood of about $1400 to the first port of call... delivery from there ... yehh!! who knows.:frown:

Transit time would be about 2 weeks... which would make the cakes a little stale unless they are well preserved... smaller quantities via UPS, DHL, or other forwarding companies.. may be less costly and the cakes would be fresher.
